What will be changed in police reforms if the Minister of Internal Affairs is the former Chief of Police?
On January 13, at 14:00, a discussion was conducted in the Media Center on the topic “What will be changed in police reforms if the Minister of Internal Affairs is the former Chief of Police?”

The speakers of the discussion were:

Artur Sakunts, Head of the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor Office
Daniel Ioannisyan, Project Coordinator of the “Union of Informed Citizens” NGO

Former Police Chief Vahe Ghazaryan will head the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which unites the Police, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Migration Service of Armenia. Ghazaryan was appointed based on the recommendation of the Prime Minister. Ghazaryan was appointed to the post of Police Chief in 2020. During his leadership, the Police resorted violent actions against the parents of the dead soldiers in Yerablur. After the incident, 35 non-governmental organizations demanded the dismissal of Police Chief Vahe Ghazaryan.
