Film Screening Media Center

June29, at 19:00 Media Center (address Saryan 12, 3rd floor) will host a documentary premiere titled A Chronicle of Exes. The film will be followed by a discussion with the authors – Sona Simonyan and Hovhannes Ishkhanyan.

Marriage is no longer the unchangeable Armenian custom that it once was. Young, urban Armenians today have far greater choices about how to live their lives than in the Soviet era. For some, staying with one person for life no longer seems relevant.

But divorce, now slightly on the rise in Armenia, does not offer an easy answer, either.  And, so, the search for new forms of relationships goes on.

Filmmakers Sona Simonyan, and Hovhannes Ishkhanyan met with their ex-husband and ex-fiancée to discuss the reasons for their respective break-ups and the difficulties of modern-day relationships.

A Chronicle of Exes was funded by UK Government’s Conflict, Stability and Security Fund for the regional  chai-khana.org multimedia platform.

Hovhanes Ishkhanyan made  movie on Stalin oppressions, called “Family album”, is the script writer of “Listen to me: untold stories beyond hatred” about LGBT community and also made a few short documentaries.
Sona Simonyan made a movie about a girl who has down syndrome, called “Nina”. Currently she is working on her first long feature film. She has authored a few short documentaries.
